C. To define an integral= multiply independent variable with dependant variable. To calculate the area under the curve with trapezoids by hand you use this formula:
N= number of trapezoids.
Example if you have this function, , and you want to find the area underneath the curve by hand.
Area of trap 1= ½(5,6+3,59)(1,25)
Area of trap 2= ½(3,59+2,3)(1,25)
Area of trap 3=1/2(2,3+1,47)(1,25)
Area of trap 4=1/2(1,47+0,94)(1,25)
Total Area= ½(1,25)(5,6+2(3,59)+2(2,3)+2(1,47)+0,94)
Homework: Do two approximations of the area of the trapezoids. Read section 5 and do page 21, 1-5 odd, 9-17 odd and all Q.

You are correct that velocity has direction but speed is the absolute value of velocity. Speed tells how fast an object is going without regard to its direction.
Note: Ida has used European notation for decimals, hence the use of commas instead of “period”
